Types of CoverageMandatory - If you own a vehicle in Ontario you are required by law to have:
Third-Party Liability Coverage: If you are in an accident, payments are made on your behalf in the case of any injuries to the person or damage to their property. By law you must have a minimum of $200,000 in coverage but we at All Insurance Ontario recommend raising that minimum to $1 -2 million.
Accidents Benefit Coverage: This coverage is to provide benefits to you if you are injured in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. It is also possible to increase this coverage; we like to review your Health insurance to ensure you have the best possible coverage.
Direct Compensation: If the accident took place in Ontario and you are not at fault for the accident, then you can collect direct compensation from your insurer.
Uninsured Automobile Coverage: This is to help protect you from any medical or damage that may be caused by an uninsured driver.
Optional – The recommended extra’s:
Collision: Damages are covered if you are in an accident and found at fault.
Comprehensive: Covers non-collision damage, such as theft, vandalism, falling objects, or damages cause by an animal.
Waiver of Depreciation: If your new vehicle is a complete write off within 2-3 years of the delivery date (depending on the insruance company), you will receive the total amount you originally paid for the vehicle
Rental Car Coverage: Includes coverage for vehicle you rent within Canada & USA, and a rental car in case of a claim on your car.
